Arabsat-5A Experiencing C-band Issues
The new Arab communications satellite Arabsat-5A, which recently was sent into an orbital position of 30.5 degrees East to replace Arabsat-2B, is likely suffering minor C-band technical problems. Many broadcasters used the capacity of the Arabsat-2B which is now at 20 degrees East. According to available information, to cover the area that Arabsat-2B had, Arabsat-5A is not living up to par and is currently a bit worse in handling its tasks.
In turn, the Arabsat-5A satellite had to offer a greater C-band range and provide higher performance. The satellite was launched on June 26, 2010 aboard an Ariane 5 rocket. The satellite is equipped with a total of 28 C-band and 24 Ku-band transponders
