Satellite television in Spain continues to fall Servimedia While television revenues are still falling for satellite (252.1 million compared to 337 last year), cable television continues to post higher profits.
The final report of the CMT reflects a drop in television revenues for satellite (252.1 million compared to 337 last year) and mobile television (3.51 versus 4.9), and a higher cable earnings (77.6, five million more) and Internet TV (54 vs. 45 million).
The number of subscribers to pay TV grew to 4.53 million, 8.9% more than during the same quarter last year. In contrast, satellite customers drop to 1,784,843, nearly 200,000 fewer than in 2009: 1,930,793.
The CMT notes also a slump in football subscriptions (312,403 instead of 521,430 in the first quarter of 2010 and 1,682,373 in the second quarter of 2009). Also, a sink in movie purchases (1,994,629 compared to 2,522,102 in the first quarter and 2,648,961 in 2009).
For operators, Sogecable saw its revenue abated the 252.17 million, compared with 263 million in the first quarter of 2010 and 337 million from April to June 2009. ONO also fell slightly, to 57 million, while Telefonica raises 15 million over the same period in 2009, to 52.2 million.
As the number of subscribers, Sogecable falling (1.7 million, 100,000 less than in the second Trimetric 2009, 1,930,793) and Ono (972,000, 19,000 less), in the opposite direction Telefónica, rising to 746,000, about 140,000 more. Gol TV reaches 190,378, virtually unchanged in the stretch from January to March this year: 190,499.
