Digital TV Set-top Boxes Incorpate New Media Standards

Montreal-based Bluestreak Technology reports that its digital TV and media software platform will be integrated into set-top boxes from Kaonmedia, the Korean supplier of IPTV, PVR and other interface devices for satellite, cable or terrestrial TV.

Kaonmedia, supporting operators worldwide, says it selected Bluestreak's MachBlue Classic platform to power the next generation Flash-based user interface for the company's KIP series set-top boxes.

The new interface provides interactive user set-ups for managing digital television content delivery, storage and access. Bluestreak's software presentation solutions support multi-screen delivery, and incorporate the latest Flash and HTML5 tools for enhanced digital media and graphic support.

"Technological innovation is critical to our continued success and Bluestreak Technology's open Flash platform enables us to deliver the latest in leading-edge set-top box user interfaces to consumers," said Hwa-seop Lim, Establisher and Chief Executive Officer, Kaonmedia. "Kaonmedia is recognized for our intuitive, consumer-oriented set-top box designs and this collaboration with Bluestreak Technology offers a new level of interaction and ease-of-use that will continue to set us apart in the industry."

"The MachBlue CLASSIC platform was developed from inception to deliver Flash-based experiences specifically for embedded devices, like set-top boxes, digital televisions, mobile phones, and other consumer electronics," said Dominique Jodoin, Bluestreak Technology CEO and President. "It is this level of proven experience in the embedded market that makes Bluestreak Technology the logical choice for many of today's leading set-top box manufacturers, like Kaonmedia, who want to deliver a superior experience specifically optimized for their device."

Privately held and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, Bluestreak Technology powers the user interfaces and applications for many global television and mobile companies, including Bouygues Telecom, DivX, Orange, Irdeto, Mitsubishi, NDS, Qualcomm, Soft@Home, Time Warner Cable, Videotron, and Zon Multimedia.
