ViaSat Pulls in $10M Contract to Continue Encryption Work
ViaSat Inc., the Carlsbad-based maker of satellite equipment, said July 12 that it was awarded a $10 million contract from the National Security Administration Maryland procurement office to implement a more advanced encryption system called High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor Interoperability Specification.
The multiyear contract continues the development of HAIPE toward a more mobile, interoperable standard that promotes wider use of information products to secure information to the secret level, the company said.
“The new suite B standards from NSA are going to make it easier for military and government users at all levels to secure their communications,” said Chris Wren, a general manager at ViaSat.
